What it is:
The Innovative Educational Tax Credit program was created through House Bill 279 during the 2021 Legislative Session as an effort to provide an opportunity for private donations to supplement public school funding. Montanans receive dollar-for-dollar credits on their state income taxes for donations made to public school districts.
Who recieves the money:
The school district you choose receives the money directly.
The process:
- Individuals take their information (listed below) and money to the school no later than 4pm on January 14, 2025.
- The School District official records donations through the Department of Revenue’s Education Donation Portal beginning at 10 am on January 15, 2025.
- The six million dollars allocated statewide are available for a tax credit on a first come, first serve basis.
- If your donation credit is approved, you will receive a donation receipt from the Montana Department of Revenue. If your donation credit is not approved the district will contact you to see if you wish to withdraw the donation.
- Anderson School District can use the money for: transformational learning: advanced opportunity; any program, service, instructional methodology, or adaptive equipment used to expand opportunity for a child with a disability; any courses provided through work-based learning partnerships or for post-secondary credit or career certification; technology enhancements; capital improvements and equipment necessary to support innovative educational programs.
